About

My name is Doug Valerio

Art has been an inescapable impulse for me ever since childhood. While my peers were engrossed in television or sports, I found solace in drawing and coloring. Anything that caught my eye drove a desire to draw or paint it. My school exercise books were adorned with more doodles than actual notes, which naturally led me to pursue four years of education at an art and design college in the UK. My professional journey has since spanned the design industry across England and Australia.

Faith has always been the cornerstone of my life. However, integrating faith with my artistic inclination hasn't always been straightforward. Growing up in the Protestant tradition where artistic expressions were largely confined to musicians left me questioning the place of visual arts. This curiosity ignited my passion for exploring and developing Christian art.

Throughout the years, I've curated numerous Christian art exhibitions and developed a Studio Course in Christian Art for Bible College. I've also lectured on the history of Christian art, founded Art-Reach – an evangelistic community art group, conducted art therapy courses, and exhibited and sold my paintings in both the UK and Australia.

Currently, I serve as the Lead Pastor at Manotick Community Church in Ottawa. Here, I have the honor of inspiring others to explore and utilize their diverse gifts and talents for kingdom redemptive purposes.
